Since the original building of the museum, the Château Warocqué, was destroyed by a fire in 1960, the current museum is housed in a newbuilt designed by Roger Bastin. It was opened in 1975. Mainly, the construction consists of a cubid volume in exposed concrete and indented beams on the ground level on which the massive volume seems to float. A small section of the original Château survived the fire in the 60s. This part is integrated into the newbuilt as well.
