Built in 1964 the hostel was created for the initial accommodation of academic immigrants. It is separated into two blocks which follow the site’s topography. In its original form it clearly referenced Le Corbusier with massive pilotis and balconies both quoting the Unité d’habitation. Later alterations, the enclosure of the balconies in particular, heavily obfuscated the original design. At the moment the building is in very bad shape. The architect visited it in 2010 and was “appalled”.
