In 1958, the Cummins Engine Company Foundation (a local manufacturer of diesel engines) institution- alized this informal process by creating the Architecture Program: an offer to pay the architectural fees for any new school if the designer was chosen from a list of notable architects provided by the foundation. … Eliot Noyes’ Southside School is the sole Brutalist building in this series.
