Originally built as a bunker camouflaged as a church, the building got converted into an actual church after World War 2. The building offers a light-flooded, rectangular nave in which the altar is separated by a broad communion bench flanked by two pillars. Seven stairs–a symbol for infinity–lead up to the free-standing altar. While preserving and using the existing materials, the church appears simple and unpretentious, still monumental. The building is a unique place of worship worldwide and has been aptly referred to as the "most stable church in the world".
