One Commercial Place is a 21 story office building in the heart of downtown Norfolk, VA. It was the tallest building in the state of Virginia until 1971. In 2018 it is the 34th tallest in the state. The massive, enveloping assembly breaks the wind and keeps most of the rain off the glass. Since the building is near the ocean that protection is valuable. It also had a positive effect on the atmosphere in the offices on the floor perimeters. The building has been converted to residences so that effect is now a part of people’s homes.
