| Condition | Since 2011 the building is no longer used as a regular church and was transferred to some youth organization of the church. For this purpose the building was renovated and slightly modified up to 2013. It is still mostely in its original condition, in particular the exposed concrete surface has been well preserved. |

The building is a replacement for the neo-gothic church at this place which was destroyed during WWII. Only the belfry remained. Like a huge sculpture the monolithic concrete building fits into the park of the Altstädter Friedhof. Church and community center are connected by arcades reminiscent of a cloister. In the middle there is a void where the neo-gothic nave was situated, thus creating a quiet courtyard, which is shielded from nearby road traffic. The nave is decorated with colored concrete sculptures by Emil Kiess, the chapel’s windows are designed by Sigrid von Liebenstein. Written by Torsten Ahlers
