The tower is one of the city's main icons because of its shape, but specially for the great clock that crowns the tower (second picture), designed by the Swiss Watchmaker Patek Phillipe, exclusively for this project. The shape is the result of a meticulous seismic study, designed together with Agustín Mazzeo and Armin De Fries. Two magnificent pieces of art designed by Carlos Cruz-Diez can be found in the entrance, one located below the ceiling, and the other one is the gate of access itself. The tower was awarded with the National Prize of the Chamber of Construction (1973), because of the difficult works to formwork it.
