Between the many historical and often medieval buildings in Soest, there is the modern public library. The building consists of intersecting volumes. Due to the recessed pilotis the upper part even seems to hang above the ground. The reinforced concrete skeleton construction with its large window areas and the tiny concrete edges is characteristic of its time of origin.
