| Condition | The school has been successively renovated for several years, fortunately without external insulation, so that the appearance has been preserved to some extent. Nevertheless, the replacement of all window and portal structures as well as the renovation of the indoor swimming pool in 2018 have led to not inconsiderable changes. In the course of this, the open space design of the break yard was also destroyed and replaced by an asphalt surface. Special thanks to Johann Gallis |

The design for the new building of the Schwadorf secondary school was the result of an invited competition. Part of the program was to include a public indoor swimming pool in addition to the school. Together with Fickl, Szauer implemented the samples tested during the school planning in Purbach on a larger scale, both in terms of the floor plan and in the architectural form. Here, too, the center of the facility is a two-storey class wing with a hall in the center. A boiler house including the central cloakroom was placed around this building in accordance with the given urban planning situation in the southern area of the forecourt. A free-standing row house for teachers' apartments was arranged on the eastern side. A further L-shaped structure adjoins the rear area, which primarily houses the indoor swimming pool including the registered sauna courtyard and above it the school gymnasium on the first floor and closes the complex to the north. Together with the class wing, this wing frames a sheltered playground, which was located in front of the facility in the west and is connected to the central hall. As in Purbach, fair-faced concrete is used in the exterior appearance and the outdoor facilities in interplay with window and portal constructions are made of mahogany, while the interior is filled with exposed brick walls and fitted out with tongue and groove interiors and cladding.
