The St. Luke's Church, built two steps up from the street level, is an exposed concrete building with an octagonal ground plan and an offset campanile. A sacristy annex, also octagonal, is connected to the church by a covered walkway. With these elements and the layout of the ground plan, the complex shows parallels to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin by Egon Eiermann. The division of the façade with small square windows is another similarity. In Karlsruhe, this gridded, geometric building is given a special liveliness by the canopy of wild vines, which change color and density with the change of the seasons. Through the glass blocks of the gridded windows, soft light falls into the interior of the church from all sides.
