The sports hall in Charlottenburg was built shortly after the Berlin Wall was erected. Under a vaulted hall roof, the building houses the 60 x 25m playing field, as well as the more than 2000 seats, dressing rooms and technical rooms. The roof skin is supported by intersecting, curved reinforced concrete beams. Looking like a lying barrel, the roof is encircled by a rectangular box. Additional cubic bodies are added in the entrance area, which can be accessed from the street via a ramp system. In its original state, the concrete was formwork-rough everywhere, but was enlivened by color accents in bright red, green and white.
