| Condition | However, the building was denied the chance to once again demonstrate its qualities of flexible adaptability in recent times. Although it was already a listed building since 2013, the Senat der Freien and the Hanseatic City of Hamburg decided in the same year to gradually demolish the school building by van den Broek and Bakema. By 2021, the school operations are to be relocated to a new school which is under construction next door. The future of the remaining old building is unclear. |

The spacious, two-story school building complex was characterized by a floor plan that could be flexibly changed in the area of the classrooms. This was achieved by a load-bearing reinforced concrete skeleton that was structurally independent of the wall panels forming the floor plan. In terms of design, the interior and exterior of the building were dominated by a color concept that served as orientation, while large parts of the façade were also kept in exposed concrete. Rounded corners typical of the 1970s and staged, technical installations complement the aesthetic appearance and contribute to a general readability of the structure. Future changes to the building had already been anticipated and taken into account by the flexible construction system. Against the background of upcoming reforms in the Hamburg school system, particular importance was attached to this during the design phase.
