| Condition | The church is in use and generally in good condition. However, repairs to the church tower are necessary, the steel anchors holding the brick facade are rusted and need to be replaced, and a new heating system is needed. |

A new industrial and residential area was built in the Reinbek-West district in the 1960s and 1970s. The old church in Hamburger Straße became too small. Friedhelm Grundmann won the architectural competition for the new church. The functions of the church are expressed volumetrically in the largely windowless building. Entrance rooms, side galleries and a church tower with a connecting bridge are added to the main cube. A skylight illuminates the church interior. Exposed concrete ceilings and columns are left visible, otherwise a red brick façade characterises the building. Inside, the brick surfaces are whitewashed.
