Hochvolthaus, Technical University

The Institute for High Voltage Engineering and Switchgear Technology of the Technical University, the "Hochvolthaus", is a cubic building block with a high-voltage hall in the southern part and institute rooms in the northern part. The Experiment Hall is characterised by a closed masonry façade with an exposed concrete base facing Theresienstrasse. On the east and west sides are sawtooth-shaped exposed masonry panels with vertical window openings and free-standing stair towers. The building is set back from the street by a gravel trench for safety reasons.
